The year 2017 is over, it is time to review which movies and TV series have performed during the year. With our series of TOP 50, you will be able to explore the results for a selection of 36 countries across the world.
What are the top movies and TV series?
Concerning the TV series, Game Of Thrones is definitely heading the
race worldwide and in almost all countries. Only 3 new TV series enter
the TOP50, Designated Survivor (#45), Salvation (#47) and Shooter (#49).
And not surprisingly the ranking is trusted by American TV series.
2017 movies are only a few in the TOP 50, apart Mother! who is #1 and
five Russian movies: Gogol The Beginning, Salyut 7, Babouchka,
Attraction and Have Fun Vasya. Most of the TOP titles are from 2016. The
explanation is that P2P playing an important part in our ranking, the
chronology of medias influences a lot the demand: a movie which has not
been released in VOD or DVD/BR is rarely shared on P2P (low quality
screeners are not demanded anymore by users).

The TOP 50 of TV series in Worldwide for 2017 is calculated based on the most shared TV series on P2P, most searched and more discussed on social networks. It allows to identify the "real" demand for TV series, not related to marketing and advertising but what users are looking for and are watching. Sometimes the results can be surprising!Using those data help defining what are the TV series which still have a demand for, even long time after their release date. For the yearly data we compute relative performance and not absolute performance. As a consequence titles released during the second half of the year benefit from a small advantage compared to others, but it allows to include them "fairly" in the ranking.
The performance indicates the percentage of TV series that have a lower rank that the current TV series. For example, a performance of 100% indicates that it is the #1 TV series. A performance of 75% means that 75% of all the TV series we track are less demanded by users.
We compute the demand, or hypiness by collecting P2P data, search information and by listening social networks.
